Thread: Sintra vs Ceramica

    Default Sintra vs Ceramica

Why is the Sintra line more expensive than the Ceramica line?

Aesthetically I like the Ceramica line better (sleeker, more bracelet like). Does the Sintra have any different technology than the Ceramica line?

A Sintra automatic is high in my wish list. I can't speak to why the prices are higher than the ceramica other than the Sintra being a signature line for the company.

I think at least a couple of the guys around here have had a few examples of the Sintra line.

I have that Sintra COSC, and I must say I LOVE IT. it is my fav watch by far. I prefer the Sintra over the Ceramica. One thing I noticed between the Sintra and the Ceramica is that the Sintra's bracelet is entirely ceramic, while the ceramica the back of it (the part that touches your skin) is not ceramic. In other words the links on the Sintra are pure ceramic while on the Ceramica the back is made of the plastic that connects the links. I have tried a Ceramica on before and between my Sintra and the Ceramica the Sintra feels better against your wrist, mainly because ceramic is against your skin rather than the plastic.

Yeah, I wished Rado made a all ceramic ceramica. That would make it better than the Sintra line IMO.

    Default Good points! Maybe someone...

Maybe someone among the group can do a comparison review...

I did not know that about the Ceramica. That's kind of cheesy. My D-star is all ceramic and I'd probably be a little ticked off if I bought a Ceramica only to discover that the inside of the bracelet was plastic.

Didn't some of the NSA bracelets have colored plastic center links? I believe I have seen black, blue and possibly brown.

You are correct Miles. The bracelet I built for the Magic that Peter now has had brown plastic centre links and I built a gold one for Cindy with black plastic centre links. They were both built from genuine NSA parts.

The black centre links on my Louis Rossel 3 row NSA are metal, however.

That is what I thought. Somewhere I have a Lucien Piccard that has a NSA bracelet with black center links. When I run across it again, I'll have to check and see what the center links are made of. Since the LP were upscale watches, perhaps it has a meter center link, unless it was added to the watch after it left the factory.

I suspect squinky could provide a wealth of information on the subject.

I'm pretty sure I once read a description of a bracelet he was selling where Squinky named the type of plastic used by NSA.
