A package showed up at my door yesterday. Inside I found this tough little beater. You may remember this from a post Erik put up prior to the “Great Late Spring Meltdown” last week, titled ”A few cheap summer beater suggestions”. I had commented how much I liked that model and asked him where to find one. I'd been looking for one for awhile, and I was pretty certain they had all but disappeared.
Later that day, Erik sent me an email saying that he'd just send me his if I wanted, that he didn't wear it much anymore anyway. I warned him that I'd out him as a “nice guy” if he did, but he persisted, saying that he was pretty much a rat bastard, and that several of you, having met him, would never be convinced otherwise, no matter what I said.
Well, I ask you, “Does this look like the behavior of a rat bastard?” I think I know a nice guy when I see one. Erik K, consider yourself outed. I swear, between you, and Torrey, and Brandon (other shameless nice guys), I'm being forced to reassess my longstanding low opinion of the human race.
In consideration of all that, and to celebrate my 4347th post on the forum (a nice round number if ever there was one), I've decided to return fire. You can't be nice to me for very long before I have to take up arms and do something about it. So, here's the deal:
My Alpha “Planet Faux-cean” has been sitting on my desk, unworn and run down, for weeks now. With the arrival of the Casio, I have one more beater than I need. Apparently, this model of Alpha was a numbered “limited” edition of 2000.
Whoever can come closest to guessing which number my watch was in the series can have it, complete with a little used black NATO. I'll entertain guesses until midnight Sunday, and announce the winner Monday morning.
