That is likely the last thing a field mouse sees, before becoming owl food. Dig those talons flexing out.

had a wingspan that had to be 6 ft
dang cool....creeped me out a bit. I remember walking in the woods one time with my dad and having an owl that size fly a couple of feet over our heads....dead silent...no noise.

Fantastic! Just love owls.
SHHHHH, not so loud, my wife will hear you. She's already freaky about letting Izzy out if she thinks she hears an owl. Actually, I wouldn't be too surprised if Izzy decided to hunt the owl, he's already tried to nab a full grown Canadian goose. I think the owl might be a bit too much for him though.

one time, hunting grouse up in canada land, back a few miles in the woods in an old orchard, suddenly had a grouse come flying across a small opening and hot on it's tail was a hawk - both doing a real life version of those "dog fight" scenes where one jet fighter is following another thru the canyons - the grouse was darting left / right to avoid spruce trees, whatever, and that hawk was doing same, all quiet as could be, except for a slight sound air rushing as they'd use a wing to adjust direction
and they were booking, didn't have a radar gun on em, but had to be doing 50-60 mph in fairly tight growth. Kind of eery, like watching a real live dogfight with no sound
