Robert what you saw is on of these.
Mine is a DOXA 8-day manual wound porcelain dial adjusted to 5 positions, 15-jewels. What type of car it came from I have no idea however. From the '20s or '30s I would guess.
Bought quite cheaply and given a good service and tune-up by my watchmaker.
I have come accross posts inquiring about these movements with photos and the replies usually speculate that they are DOXA. In this instance 'DOXA' is clearly indicated. I have been unable to track down the Swiss Patent Document.
The movement was used in Goliath PWs, Stowa etc. It would appear the movement dates from 1910 or thereabouts.
It has survived the last 80-100 years quite well...
