FS: NIVADA Branca with Tiger-Eye dial
For sale today is a 1960s NIVADA 'Branca' automatic with tiger-eye dial and round case of tungsten-carbide. This is very similar to the mid- to late-1960s Rado Diastar 2 with the round case. Size is 39mm wide x 12 mm thick; lug width = 18 mm. This is an early example of a non-Rado with the Tungsten-Carbide case and a Tiger-Eye dial. I believe it pre-dates anything Rado made with that combination. The earliest Rados with stone dials seem to date from around 1970, based on the adverts and catalogue pages I've researched. This Nivada has an ETA movement that was in general use in the 1960s and earlier.
The condition of this watch is very good...only minor harilines are visible in the dial under a 10x loupe. The quality of the tiger-eye is very good and is a lovely sample of the stone. The case has no scratches or chips; case back is very clean with only minor scratches. Crystal is a bevelled and domed glass or sapphire in excellent condition.
Movement is an ETA cal. 2472; it is running well and the date changes as it should. My timing machine indicates a gain of about 19s per day. I have no idea when this movement was last serviced, but it appears clean and acceptably accurate for a ~45 year old watch.
New black straps are included. No boxes or other accessories are present.
