I vaguely remember Argosy, but not True. I had a weird mix when I was a kid: My dad's Sports Illustrated, mom's New Yorker and my older friend's occasional Playboy. Plus my grandparents got...
Is that a 007 or a 7002? The date wheel looks brushed aluminum, which would make it a 7002 (all SKX007s were 7S26 movements, with white plastic day/date).
Good story, George. I grew up near a lot of bottom land (though not as swampy as the Okeefeenokee), but traded that for the sea, and then the sea for a mountainside, which I'm OK with... ;-)
Jeff, there's a big shark, right in the middle! What's wrong with you!? ;-)
They're just doing their job. Nice chrono. Just about perfect, in fact.
What a group shot, Andrew! I only want six of them..... ;)
Jeez I'm glad this week is almost over. Good God.
Jeff and Brent: Please send me those watches. I'll pay postage (actually, after owning the vintage sharkhunter I know better, but those Doxas...
That's funny because Bremont might actually build a watch that thick!
Good on them though, for the self-deprecating humor:
Thanks, Jocke. Lehmann's hidden crown idea looks nice, much like many, many Seiko models from the 1970s, and I like seeing that second Ressence. My favorite though, is this (the original was a...
Erik: You said a mouthful there. I gave one of those to a friend when he started diving last year. That's a lot of watch for the equivalent of a tankfull of gas.
This for me:
Cool story, Tom. Amazing how that Seamaster hasn't lost one bit of suave over the years. He's lucky to have you as his dad. I've got a girl, and although she can probably have any watch I own...
Great story, Peter (as always). Was it not possible to service the original movement?
Honestly, what's crazier than Shannon's Sea3? ;)
Where's Ohio? :noidea:
Hang in there, Chris.
Handset is uninspiring IMO, but I like the bezel.
The Sea-Gulls were nice-looking divers.
Congrats, Shannon. That's the best of the current Seiko quartz divers, IMHO.
Goddamn that's a rare one. And this:
"Since itís not immediately obvious if the chronometer function is activated, the display window on the dial lets you know by showing a full luminous dot when...
Andrew: I like the way you colored that puppy. Real postmodern like... ;-)
TR: When did you get a Magrette?? Man, that one is the one to have...
I'm just gonna bore you guys, but same watch...
I don't have a green watch, so just stuck with this:
(Don't leprechauns wear orange hats or something? :) )
Brent: I think...
John: They're great for crossing time zones: you change the hour and the seconds hand (if accurate) doesn't lose any time.
I think that has been the conventional wisdom, but supposedly the QC and finish has improved so much in the last couple of years that it's no longer an issue. I have one of Dan's new OWC snowflake...
What's not to like? It's even got a mermaid on the back. I could do the 44mm, but I know that crown would spend a lot of time in the back of my hand. They make this one, too, in 42mm:
