  • Not being able to use HMTL is a problem...

    Gents,
I just tried to post a review using the source code from my RGM TZ LE review on the current EOT WRB. I have lots of images and formatting embedded in that text; lots of HTML tags, amateurish though they may be. Anyhoo, I'm unable to post HTML according to the little box at the bottom of this page. Is that the default setting?

I think we should change that--it seems like an unnecessary restriction.

I find it far easier to compose long picture-laden posts in another format (MS WOrd, for example) and then paste the text and tags into the EOT box. IO know BOS and some other fellows enjoy tagging their posts with music and video clips, etc. Without HTML, this becomes very difficult. Enabling HTML is value-added, IMO.

    Default is OFF.....

I believe you can turn on HTML tags within your user profile... I think I saw it but don't recall exactly where...

OK, look to the bottom left of your screen at the "POSTING RULES" label. Hit the down arrow. The default is "HTML code is OFF", so there must be a way to turn it on.

I would expect it is an administrative function and that individual users cannot control this. Rich...a little help!?!?

Looks to me like you just need to turn HTML on, though I haven't yet discovered if we can do that, or the admin needs to do that.
Below under posting rules it says "HTML code is OFF" It's obviously using HTML for posting.

Exactly. I think that ON should be the default for every user. It's taken for granted in the world of on-line posting that one can use HTML. We don't want to be percieved as lacking in technology, or being too restrictive, do we?

Well, I THINK I agree, though I don't know what it changes to leave it default ON.
I also couldn't find a way through the User Control Panel to turn it on. May need to be done by the admin.

I'm still wondering what the moderators jobs will look like under this new software.

OK, Roland turned on the HTML, but my links to images are broken. I checked the HTML tags and at least one of them should be working--I found no obvious errors. Besides, this text was copied from a working post on current EOT.

Also, there appears to be a limit to the number of words/characters one can post. I pasted the full text of my review, but it gets cut off somewhere before the end.

Rich, is there a known limit? Is there a filter that will not allow linked photos but only those included via the built-in functionality?

PS. I'd also like to be able to use HTML everywhere else on the site. As a user, not as an admin.
