  • DiaStar Incoming

After a rather convoluted purchase this DiaStar is incoming. Looking forward to seeing that mineral dial in person.

Wow, that's blingtastic John! What's the mineral dial, lapis?

Congrats, John. It looks like a Balboa Deluxe case. It is certainly an uncommon dial configuration!
I'll be interested to learn your thoughts on it.
      Cheers,
      Brad

That one is very interesting, loving the blue to green contrast on it.
What if the case wouuld be made out of the Blue tiger case material... Woooohaa!
        Great find, indeed.

          Just for comparison:
          IMG_0057.jpg

          I owned the Balboa Deluxe.
It appears that both have the same hands and case. The drown on the bottom one appears to have been pulled out for the photo.

I'm ashamed to admit that I can't remember what the number of it is. It's in the 50s or 60s. I'll try to remember to look when I get home.

Brad you are correct that it is the same case and handset as the Balboa Deluxe. When I first got mine their was some speculation that it was a franken, but I'd seen enough to be confident in it's authenticity.

I think it's a bad photo and it is regular TC. Mine is tungsten. It's the same case as the Balboa Deluxe. John's dial is clearly different minerals than mine, but this is what mien looks like. Tigereye and onyx dial with garnets and Szwarofskys in the outer ring.

I'm glad to hear that. I was wondering if it was a Diastar dial later put into a Balboa Deluxe case but, seeing two now, and knowing you have seen others, is sufficient for me to dispose of that fear.

Great find John, most unusual and a first for that combination here it would seem. Looking forward to some better photos when it lands at your place.

I have seen close to half a dozen with my configuration of tigereye and onyx with garnets, but I have never seen these minerals.

I think it is a DiaStar 55. Not sure what mineral this one is, appears to have a hint of green but the sellers pics are so bad its hard to be certain. The green stones may be there to match the mineral but we will see in due course.

Edit; just found this pic, definitely not Lapis

I forgot to check, but Diastar 55 is what I had in the back of my mind as well.

It could well be a slice of ammolite or abalone.

Getting late here so some less than optimal pics. I have no idea what mineral this is but the blue and green reflections at certain angles are beautiful.
