  • Nice pistols, gents - here are a few of my favorites.

    • Forget the brand name, price, or the fact that it's derivative. On the wrist, this may be
the best looking watch I own. The case is spectacular as is the bracelet. The forged carbon
bezel gleams. 1000m WR. Sapphire. Lume off the charts. I put it next to my 45
year old GMT1, and quality wise—, it blows it away.

It's amazing what you can buy for not a lot of money...

I agree Kurt, it wouldn't surprise me if these two came out of the same factory as yours, a great deal of joy for very little money. I've spent an extra $10 on each of mine to have them regulated by my friendly watchmaker and they're now good for around 1 to 3 seconds a day too.

            • My post today is all about weight...

A titanium watch I'm wearing (still trying to decide whether to keep it):

And my lone pistol, which I've only carried on long hikes (thus the need to save weight):

              Have a great week, fellas,

                  • Even I have changed out. Those of you that have known me for years know my love for the Rolex 1675 and its versions (like a 1675/3 made in 1970, for instance). This will be on my wrist for a while. I'm going to a science fiction convention in Raleigh-Durham this weekend to conduct a seminar on writing military science fiction. It will give me something to admire for an hour if I don't get any attendees.

                          • Still, one of my coolest and well loved watches. It's rare for a watch to
stay with me for almost five years, but this one gives me as much joy as
                            when I first bought it.

Like all Gevril's—, it punches way above its weight.

                            • That's another slick Gevril, Kurt. I liked that trend of retro-style rectangles from several year back. Eterna, Zenith, Paul Picot, G-P and DJR all had interesting variants on the theme.

For inexplicable reasons, I'm still wearing the bizarro Hamilton, which I expected to dislike intensely.

Surprisingly, for a display prototype from 11 years ago, it is keeping amazing time:
