      • OK let's make it three. Trick is, mine's quartz and I love it. It's the time standard for my home.Omega SMP 300 00a.jpg

            • You have owned that one for a long time, George. Nice to see you still have it.

Mine, the 2254, this very same watch/serial, has been in and out of my stable 4 or 5 times in its life, as it was traded back and forth between me, Dave, and Mike from Vancouver, with just a couple of detours.

Everyone looked after it with love and care. I believe I brought it into our fold, and eventually was the first to get it serviced.

The more I see and even try the newer stuff, the more I realize how right these older models are. They just tick all the right boxes.

This time, its staying right where it is.

                  • I'm wearing this old chronometer again. I put it on last Thursday night and decided to leave it on for the weekend. It hasn't been serviced since I imported it from Japan back in 2016, so I just checked, and it's currently running within 3 seconds, not bad for a 45 year old.

Oh, what a pity, they sometimes still have have a feint glow, but I guess after 75 years the zinc sulphide's been completely degraded by the radium. On the plus side, at least you can still make the Geiger counters click with it. Actually, I've read how that's a good way to test for fakes.
