Here's a clock with a nice story. I am a fan of 1950s and "moderne" design. I've accumulated lots of furniture from that era and it goes well with my house which was built in the early 1950s.

In 1997 or so, my wife (then fianceé) and I stayed at the house of a friend's parents. The room in which we slept contained a classic 1950s starburst clock that I mentioned to my friend. In passing, I stated that if her folks ever decided to part with it, I'd be interested in buying it.

More than a year passed.

A party was held to celebrate our wedding (married on St. Thomas, USVI--party in PA) and my friend arrived with a gift that she insisted we open that evening. We had planned to open gifts the next day, but we complied with her request because she was clearly excited about this. Inside the gift box was the very clock I had admired. Having told her parents that I loved the clock, and that I was getting married, her folks insisted that she bring us the clock.

It turns out that it had been a wedding gift to them, back in the 1950s!

I photoshopped out the electrical cord which hangs down. It's unslightly, but I haven't installed an outlet behind the clock mount so that I can hide the cord.

It's a LUX...classic Americana, eh?
