I only have one PW and it was my great grandfather's and was used by my grandfather droving in western Queensland. I never knew him but I've read that drovers would carry one watch between them protected in a leather pouch from the dust. They needed a watch so that they could time the night shifts watching the cattle. This one is old and darkly tarnished silver. It also has a centre seconds movement which has replaced the original sub seconds. I'll have to get a new crystal but I don't think I want much more done to it. It has a feel of family history about it.

Our camera is being repaired but I'll post some pics and ask some advice when it's back.

Thanks for posting, David. I'd love to see photos of the watch and hear more about that lifestyle...sounds rather rustic and romantic.

I think it could have been a bit on the rustic and romantic side. I'm quite thankful my Dad escaped to the big smoke. I've just finished a book by a bloke who would have been my Dad's age who stayed up there working with cattle and horses - a very different life. I'll post some pics and a bit more about it when the camera comes back.
